The New York Regional
Interconnect project is an issue of vital importance to our area.
My goal is to insure that communities such as ours which will be
impacted by such a plan have an opportunity to have their voices
heard AND CONSIDERED.
Accordingly, I lobbied for the allocation of funding to support
CARI
(Communities Against Regional Interconnect), which is fighting to
keep the NYRI power line from ruining a portion of our district
and possibly increasing electric rates in order to ship cheap electricity
downstate.

In order to provide the village of Deposit with the opportunity
to design and maintain an attractive gateway to their community,
I facilitated an intermunicipal agreement between Broome County
and the Village of Deposit.
The Deposit
Rotary Club will provide the manpower and resources to both build
and maintain the village's new "gateway."

| I
supported budgetary decisions that maintained crucial funding
for entities that provide services important to the quality of
life here in Broome County, such as
- Cornell
Cooperative Extension
- ACCORD
-
Broome County Historical Society
- the
Cyber-Mobile
-
Broome County Soil and Water Conservation
District, and
- the
Ross Park Zoo.
